Lauren Winter: Not Here, Not There.

Lauren Winter presents the beginning of a new body of work, emerging from a two week residency in General Practice. Operating somewhere between memory and imagination Not Here, Not There frames the gallery as a site of recollection. Sculpture and memory begin to occupy the same language, as familiar forms and objects resurface in pieces, reassembled into new forms, developed through reproduction and repetition. 

Against an accelerating culture of urgency and productivity, mentally I return to the house where every surface is protected by doilies and filigree climbs walls. In the recollection of these ordinary and repeating motifs, I ask - is this place far away from the next instant, and does time fold in on itself?
